Step into a sacred circle held by Wisdom Keeper & Indigenous Marakame Modesto Rivera, for a three-night intensive of deep healing, education and awakening. Guided by the whispers of the elements, the intelligence of the plants, and the heartbeat of the FIRE, this immersive journey — anchored by one ceremonial gathering, interlaces ritual, breath, and community into a tapestry of transformation. Over these nights, you will be held with reverence as you shed what no longer serves, reclaim the radiant expression of your essence, and remember the boundless freedom that resides within.
We are deeply honored to be guided by Markame Modesto Rivera of the Wixarika lineage from Nayarit, Mexico. A Marakame of an unbroken ancestral line, Modesto Rivera carries forward a sacred tradition of ancestral healing medicine that spans millennia. Born and raised to walk this sacred path, he is not only a medicine man but also a gifted musician and artist, a bridge between the ancient and the modern, guiding the transformation and healing of our planet, humanity, and all our relations.
Our daytime gatherings and sharing circles are designed to support and illuminate the work of the ceremony offering a space to deepen your connection to the energetic realms of the plants and the profound wisdom of Wixarika culture.

Our setting is Brave Earth (Tierra Valiente), a center for applied cultural transition, a burgeoning community, regenerative farm, and healing arts center based in northern Costa Rica. Here amidst the jungle, thermal pools and cloud forest, we are exploring new and ancient
ways of living.
This transformative journey is an invitation to awaken the highest expression of the

MARAKAME MODESTO RIVERA
Son of Don Eustolio and Mama Chaly, Modesto Rivera is a spiritual leader and political representative of the state of Nayarit, Mexico. He was born in a Wixarika community in the high mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Coming from an unbroken lineage of Marakames, he started his studies at an early age under his parents and followed the sacred path throughout his entire life, learning all about the Wixarika cosmology, music and art. Modesto is a gifted musician who has received and written many of the traditional Wixarika chants, his ceremonies are led by the violin and the traditional canari guitar and dance

FACILITATOR & TRANSLATOR
Gustavo is the cultural bridge for Modesto, they have been working together for many years. Gustavo was born in New York City of ancestral lineage from the Arahuaco and Chimila territory on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. Gustavo is a father, husband, artist, activist, culture bearer, culture maker and community leader. He is a professional chef with over 20 years of experience highlighting and advocating for Indigenous people through food. He is the founder of Munay Wasi a nonprofit focused on a regenerative land project.
KARINA
Program Director & Facilitator
Karina is in service to collective liberation through earth medicine healing arts and is a bridgekeeper for indigenous wisdom teachers.
With a rich tapestry of cultural heritage that includes Taino, Afro-Caribbean, Spanish, French, and Ecuadorian lineages, Karina embodies a beautiful fusion of traditions and histories, celebrating the strength and resilience of her ancestors. She is a certified holistic health, transformation and integration guide with a focus on earth medicine, working with groups and one on one clients. She is a certified transformational breathwork facilitator and specializes in awakening our somatic wisdom. She is the founder of the wellness platform Sovereign by Nature, non-profit The ARC, healing container for womxn The Sacred Session.
She has studied with wisdom keepers, elders and teachers from many different lineages. Her work centers ceremonial work, collective healing, systems change and culture shifts.

The human body is the greatest technology we will ever possess- together we will dive deep to reconnect to our bodies, build resiliency and learn to navigate our internal landscape- mind, body and soul. By using framework to view our personal work through playful intelligence we are rewiring our social patterns and behaviors- we are learning to shed layers of cultural and ancestral conditioning stored deep within our bones. We are reprogramming our mind into a fierce ally. Empowerment at it's truest level- Integrity in it's purist form.
Our breathwork practice is designed to help you cultivate energy- vitality, health, creativity and longevity- learn to uncover the internal wisdom you possess.

Together we remember the ceremonial ways of life. It is time to refine our capacity to listen, to reconnect to community and to answer the call for global consciousness.
Through ancient traditions and wisdom practices we surrender to the messages that are meant for us and we reignite clear vision so that we may walk our path with confidence and with the support of nature and community.
We will participate in an optional Wixarika prayer ceremony with traditional cactus medicine as sweat lodge to purify the mind, body and soul.
INTEGRATION
Integration is the culmination and implementation of insights and learnings acquired during your journey.
We are co-creating a supportive container with an onsite integration session during your journey, tools and resources to help you integrate upon landing and the support of our community for 1 live zoom calls.
Together we co-create a Culture of Care. A place of respect, compassion and non-judgement. We will support Pre and Post sessions via zoom.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
-Start date is Dec 12th, around 4pm. The shared shuttle will depart San Jose CR Airport around 1pm. If you can't arrive early enough the same day, we recommend you arrive a day early and stay close to the airport in San Jose. Hotel recommendations will be sent with a logistics email after you've registered.
-Journey end date is Dec 15th - 10am departure on shared shuttle. You may arrange private transportation as needed based on your flight.
-Airport: You will fly into San Jose Costa Rica. There will be shuttle options shared with you upon registration. The shuttle price is not included in price above and varies depending on how many people are sharing. The center is located about 2.5 hours from the airport. Please do not book flights until you have been medically cleared to participate.
-Round trip shuttle options from San Jose Airport area to Brave Earth will be offered after registration. You will also have an option to select Private Transport. Shuttle costs are additional.
-We ask for a 50% deposit to reserve your spot. This is non-refundable and may be transferable up to 90 days prior to the start date with approval of SVXN.
-The remaining 50% will be billed 60 days prior to the start state. Non refundable.
-Please do not make travel arrangements until you have been medically cleared to participate. There will be a medical intake form emailed to you once you register. If you are deemed medically unsafe to participate your deposit will be refunded.
-All logistics and additional information will be sent to you upon registration.
-Due to the nature of this work, payments and deposits are non-refundable unless deemed medically unsafe to attend. They may be transferable at the discretion of the organizer. Please email info@sovereignxnature.com with questions.
